Kauai County has an ordinance that provides “Exceptional” status to very special trees and palms, thus preserving and protecting them. Anyone can submit a nomination. It starts with a completed application being sent to the Mayor’s Arborist Advisory Committee (AAC). They review the application and then send it to the County Council for the final approval.
